Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir which is also a center of tourism for other getaways around. There are multiple ways to reach here from other parts of the country. Here is the brief info about the same-
Jammu is over 295km from Srinagar. You can hire a private car from Jammu railway station or can even take a share cab to Srinagar. The prices may vary as per the season. Minimum rent for share cab is Rs 400 per person while a private cab would charge you minimum Rs 2,000. Flights are also available from Jammu to Srinagar of different air carriers.
There are two ways to reach Srinagar from New Delhi- you can take a train/flight to Jammu and then cab/flight to Srinagar or you can take direct flight to Srinagar from New Delhi. Although there are number of trains from New Delhi to Jammu but time taken is almost equivalent to flights which have layover in Jammu.
There are no regular direct flights to Srinagar from Mumbai. Hence you have to plan your trips accordingly. Apart from this, there is single train to Jammu from Mumbai Central. If you still wish to go by air, you can take direct flight to Delhi and take another flight to Srinagar.
Being in opposite direction, there are no direct trains to Jammu, but you can take a direct flight to New Delhi and then another flight to Srinagar. If you prefer to save some money, take a train to New Delhi and then another train to Jammu. Alternatively, you can fly down to New Delhi and take airport express metro line to New Delhi Railway Station and take a train to Jammy, followed by a private cab.
There are multiple trains from Kolkata to Jammu. After getting down at Jammu, you can take a flight to Srinagar or a personal cab from Jammu station. You can also take a direct flight to New Delhi and can change for Srinagar.
